An American woodworker named Eric appeared on TV. He was invited to Japan since he was evaluated positively for his enthusiasm. He makes not only soy sauce in his house but also some tools like a wooden barrel. For making soy sauce, the traditional company used to use the big barrels. Once a wooden barrel is made, it would last for 100 years.
Unfortunately, a last wooden barrel company will be closed in 2020. That’s why some people gather on Shodo Island once a year to protect traditional crafts. It seems like Eric learned not only how to make soy sauce, but various craftsman skills as well.
